Dr. Nathan Lu grew up in the suburbs of Portland, OR. He went to UC Berkeley where he got a degree in Economics. Before medical school, he also completed a Masters of Public Health at University of Southern California and spent a few months working as a waiter/line cook at a small ramen shop in LA. He got married to his best friend and teammate, and moved his life to Cleveland, OH for medical school. He chose UPMC for residency after doing a sub-internship because of both the unparalleled historic and current excellence in research and leadership in Otorhinolaryngology, as well as the rich environment of learning he experienced as a visiting student.
